Finally….
Thursday, January 31st, 2008I’ve paid off my college bills that have been hanging over me for the past 5 months. It feels really good, but I’ll probably be in debt again this time next week when I fail more exams hahaha. I was in that situation because I genuinely thought that after the leaving cert you could just have the buzz and got to a couple of classes a week and turn up for the exams. I was mistaken. In hindsight I have learned some valuable lessons from my college experience so far.
1. Always no matter how unimportant it may seem, go to classes that are worth a percentage mark at the end of the year.
2. When in a lecture hosted by a babbling old American women who drifts from Romanic settlements to coins of the iron age try your best to imagine she is telling you the most interesting story about happy things such as sweets and cartoon hippo’s.
3. Try not to ear wig conversations about pointless nights out between groups of girls wearing too much make up and furry boots.
4. Remember that your reward for being in an Arts degree is that occasionally you get to study sweet shit such as David Lynch films and Chris Saliewicz biographies.
5. If at all possible don’t apply for courses in UCD.
I wish I listened to Shipwreck more before the gig last week. I got the album ABYSS and it is class. I’m really excited for the little tour with Find A Way next week. It’ll be good to make new friends and play to new people in Belfast and Greystones.
Today I found out that I have five weeks holidays due in work that I need to take by the end of March. It is hard to believe that I have not had one week off from work since the beginning of last April. Don;t get me wrong I have been away but I have worked at least one day of each contract week, therefore upholding my contractual obligations to the company. Anyway this means that I’ll be able to ake a few weeks off around Paddy’s weekend and the tour to England for From the Heart Fest. This will be the weekend to end all weekends. D.B.H INVASION 2008.
I’m drinking tea and eating Carr’s water biscuits. BEAST.
