July 7th, 2009

I hadn’t played football in a long time until yesterday. Although my body is in bits I really had the best laugh. I just hope after a couple more games my legs won’t feel as if they’re about to fall off.                                                                                                                                                     One day I would like to be able to be as good as this lad:

THE BEST PICTURE EVER?

 I think so.

I AM THE TOOL!

May 3rd, 2009

I sometimes surprise myself at the stupid things that I do. I can be very clumsy at times but never really detrimentally so it’s generally all good. Last night I was watching the 100 best Stand Ups on E4 and I had an itch in my eye. I don’t know how people generally relieve itches in the eye region but I generally close my eye and rub it. It’s a time tested procedure that has never served me wrong over the years until last night. While trying to relieve said itch I forgot to close my eye because I was distracted by Bill Hicks on the tv, I stuck my finger directly into my eye and seriously scratched it. I had blurred vision for the majority of the night and it was extremely painful. It’s alot better now but it just got me to thinking how all of the injuries I have had throughout the course of my life have been self inflicted. I use to play rugby in school and I was always breaking bones or pulling something. I ended up in hospital with a ruptured hernia, I didn’t sustain this injury from the heat of battle (well in the end it was due to being hit by a massive neanderthal) but the injury originated from me slipping and falling over while running from the dressing room to the pitch. I am the height of smooth.                                                                                                                                 In other news I miss Lottie and wish I was in the original lineup of the E Street Band.

Last Week

April 30th, 2009

Was awesome. I wish I had a time machine or a portal that would take me back there. Maybe I’ll start on that project when I finish my exams.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             But for now I am stuck in the horrible season that is EXAM SEASON. I like reading but not at this time of year. Roll on the 18th of May :)

I have a blocked ear ……

March 5th, 2009

My left ear is completely blocked and although I can still hear out of it. It’s the weirdest sensation ever. I’ve tried all the ‘tricks’ and nothing seems to be working. These tricks I refer to are the baby oil trick and the hot water one. Maybe my ear isn’t blocked and it’s just fucked from the abuse I have given it over the past 8 years from being in small loud spaces. I don’t think this is the case though because I can sort of hear fluid moving about. I just wish there was something I could do to just unblock it. I was thinking what if I got a really long cotton bud. That would be awesome. I think I’m going to have to go to the doctor and get them syringed. I’m not too excited about this though.

My right ear has been enjoying the sounds of Billy Bragg this morning.

The Joys of Snow?

February 6th, 2009

I enjoy the snow. I enjoy getting lectures cancelled and I like seeing people having a laugh. What I don’t like is sitting on a 20 minute bus journey for nearly 3 hours and be followed every part of the journey by the Snow Fiends from Hell who are pictured above.                                                                                                                                                               The bus left UCD and was crawling along, I didn’t mind this so much because of how warm it was on the bus as opposed to the alternative of walking. We were stopped on the Windy Arbour road which is flanked on one side by a massive green and on the other side by houses. After not moving for about fifteen minutes there was a consistent thud of snowballs being milled at the window. This was funny for about 3 minutes. The onslaught continued for at least twenty minutes of non stop thudding. The culprits were two young lads in Columbia jackets and they were wearing wet pants for cycling and had football scarves over their mouths. The funniest thing about the whole thing was that they had a structured operation. One lad rolled the snowballs and the other (who had amazing aim) would just throw tirelessly at the bus. Their persistence was admirable. We eventually moved on a bit. About ten minutes later it started again except 300 hundred yards up the road on the opposite side. They moved base camp. I felt sorry for the bus driver but it was too funny.                                                                                                                                                                       Happy Snow Day.

Lucky I Checked…

February 4th, 2009

I got my results from UCD the other day and everything was pretty much to be expected except for an NG grade in a continuous assessment Creative Writing class. First of all it would have been impossible for me to receive an NG because of attendance alone but I figured maybe I was just really shit. I emailed the tutor anyway and she sent me back a short email saying “There has been a terrible mistake, please contact the English Department immediately.” I went up anyway and was treated like a prince because my NG was a clerical error and I actually received an A-. I’m not going to lie, I was extremely happy because of the circumstances of the grade. The funny thing is that if it was in any other module I would have just accepted the grade and repeated the module. It’s all a bit relieving.                                                                                                                                                 I think I’m going to spend the rest of the afternoon doing college work and eating lentil soup. Delish.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   I will be listening to this all week : )

Getting Organised….

January 30th, 2009

I’ve spent the last week or so trying to organise the artwork for the Find A Way 7inch. Because I don’t really know much about things that are in any way technologically related except for the pipe in the telly and how to fix the broadband, Alex and Glenn have been helping me. I’m really happy with how it’s turning out and we should be sending it off for pressing by the end of the weekend. It’s a really great feeling getting things finished and producing something that is entirely your own work and creative. There’s alot of work to do before we go on tour but this seems like the impetus to get it all going. I’m highly positive:) On the theme of being organised I’m finding University extremely interesting at the moment.Studying Ibsen and Ezra Pound makes going to Uni with thousands of Chuds slightly more bearable.                                                                                                                                                                                                   +      = GOOD BUZZ                                                                          I was told that the latest Loved Ones album is a grower. And it certainly is.
